The Look

Sometimes you just have to get back to the basics. While white, grey and black are all in my comfort zone when it comes to shades, I made sure to add texture to make it modern and my own. I love the ombré effect starting at white on top and darkening to black with my OTK boots.

Turtlenecks are still great, but mock necks are the updated version. Similar to this Madewell sweater, mock neck sweaters don't go as far up your neck as a turtleneck would. This option is great for people that like the look of a turtleneck, but feel constructed when wearing them. Plus, the mock neck is a sleek and more clean cut modern version. It's super soft and it's the perfect thickness. I've had this oversized and faux fur Ivy Rebel jacket for about a year, but I love how the faux fur sleeves and leather trim differentiate it from the sea of trendy black bomber jackets!

Did you notice my new belt?! I've wanted a double buckle belt for a while and finally got around to it! I like this belt because it's not huge or overbearing and there isn't an extreme amount of detail engraved into the metal. Madewell denim has always been a favorite of mine. The quality is great and they fit so well! I highly recommend their high waisted options! Grey jeans are helpful when you want to break up a look or stray from a full monochrome outfit. The contrast between the suede boots and the pants is great - I would even consider a taller boot when wearing lighter jeans like these. The black also complements the jacket.
