The Look

It has been a minute! I've been so wrapped up in getting my travel posts up that I put a lot of the lookbook posts on the back burner this summer. While I included my looks and links to them in those travel posts, it's still nice to get back to my roots of style posts and how/why I put them together. Marijn and I tested out a new camera for these shots and couldn't be more pleased! September will be a whole new animal for us.

Now, back to the look. I've been experimenting a lot with different denim style, so these striped and structured reformation spoke to me. I love the cut and almost boxiness of them. Not to mention, they suck you is in all the right places. Seriously, you can actually feel the material tightening up around the upper thigh area and waist. I find this too be super flattering, but at ties a tad uncomfortable. Nothing I can't deal with for how great your legs look when wearing them! The vertical stripes give your legs that elongated look, especially when worn with heels!

With the jeans as the focus of the look, I went very comfortable and easy breezy for the rest of the look. A simple white t-shirt should always be on hand for moments like these. As you can, it complements the heels nicely, but this look is just as easily worn with sneakers. My sheer orange sunnies (found on Asos) and hairstyle give the entire look a very retro vibe. I love how th eorange tint of the lenses works so well with the warm tones of the Hermès scarf. Speaking of which, wrapping scarves around handbag handles has to be one of my new favorite thing to do with accessories!

The show: Vivienne Tam

I wore this look to the Vivienne Tam show (also helped out at that show)! This show was full of cool and sporty looks. There were a lot of textures and pops of color. This venue (still at Moynihan Station) was one of the larger ones. The U-shaped runway and extensive seating added to the fast paced high end fashion environment. I found myself wishing that this show hadn't ended! The music, the press at the end of the runway, and the intricately detailed looks were a true depiction of the quality and time that goes into producing these looks. My favorite look was a floor length gown with an almost mesh bodice. The entire gown was ornamented with black and white flowers. It was such an elegant look made cool with the sneakers the model had on. I'll share all of the looks under the #NYFW tab!

The look:

I hope you guys love leather as much as I do because this was my second day at fashion week and second time rocking leather! There is something so chic and timeless about a leather jacket that will remain forever. Pieces like this BCBG perforated tunic are a new spin on the classic leather look. This helps to keep things interesting. I like playing around with layers and lengths to make my looks more appealing to the eye. Make people work to understand the look! This also helps to break up what you are wearing especially if you are wearing all black, as I am. Even though everything is one color, each item that I am wearing can easily be distinguished due to the texture and varying lengths. These American Apparel high waisted jeans came in handy because the slits on the side of the tunic cut pretty high! I never leave without my Dior SoReal sunnies...I'll rock those babies forever! Add your favorite accessories (mine are black and leather or faux leather, naturally) and you have successfully put together your NYFW-esque look! I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!
