Striped Denim + Retro Accessories

Claudia Di Capua

Top: Madewell / Jeans: ReformationHeels: Public Desire (Similar here) / Scarf: HermèsBag: Express (Similar here) / Sunglasses: Asos

The Look

It has been a minute! I've been so wrapped up in getting my travel posts up that I put a lot of the lookbook posts on the back burner this summer. While I included my looks and links to them in those travel posts, it's still nice to get back to my roots of style posts and how/why I put them together. Marijn and I tested out a new camera for these shots and couldn't be more pleased! September will be a whole new animal for us.

Now, back to the look. I've been experimenting a lot with different denim style, so these striped and structured reformation spoke to me. I love the cut and almost boxiness of them. Not to mention, they suck you is in all the right places. Seriously, you can actually feel the material tightening up around the upper thigh area and waist. I find this too be super flattering, but at ties a tad uncomfortable. Nothing I can't deal with for how great your legs look when wearing them! The vertical stripes give your legs that elongated look, especially when worn with heels!

With the jeans as the focus of the look, I went very comfortable and easy breezy for the rest of the look. A simple white t-shirt should always be on hand for moments like these. As you can, it complements the heels nicely, but this look is just as easily worn with sneakers. My sheer orange sunnies (found on Asos) and hairstyle give the entire look a very retro vibe. I love how th eorange tint of the lenses works so well with the warm tones of the Hermès scarf. Speaking of which, wrapping scarves around handbag handles has to be one of my new favorite thing to do with accessories!

My Subtle Style Changes + Light Summer Layers

Top: H&M (Similar below) / Blazer: H&MJeans: Current / ElliottEarrings: MejuriHeels: Stuart WeitzmanBag: Express / Scarf: Hermes (Similar here) / Sunglasses: Ray-Ban

The Look

Changing it up little by little is the goal of summer 2018. I’ve made subtle adjustments to everything from my styling to my editing! While all components of this look are things I already had in my closet and would normally wear, the combination of them all is what makes it slightly different for me. For example, I am a true tucker-inner. Almost every time you see me in a t-shirt, it is tucked into high waisted jeans. This time around, I kept the shirt untucked over a pair of boyfriend jeans with a summer blazer. When I wear a blazer, it normally means that something is getting tucked in below, but styling it the way I did felt more breezy, comfortable and summeresque.

While I don’t have a lot of blazers that are specifically great for summer weather, it is something that I would like to invest more in. They go so well with t-shirts and camis and can easily be dressed down. I would wear this top and blazer with a pair of jean shorts and sneakers as well! This t-shirt is sold out, but I linked a bunch of favorites above that would be great additions to your closet this summer!

QUICK TIP: Add a few more lives to your simple handbags by wrapping a scarf around the strap. I’m obsessed with doing this lately and it really adds depth to your look. Super easy to change scarves to match your look as well!

These Current Elliott jeans are 100% my summer go to and I’d go as far as to say one of my best purchases this season. I found them on sale via Hautelook and am considering getting a second pair! The shape is super flattering and the cropped length makes them perfect to wear with heels or sneakers. I’ve always been a fan of showing a little ankle. In this case, I went for simple Stuart Weitzman sandal since I went casual with the untucked top. This look is a great representation of the easy going yet put together vibe I am going for this season. What new things will you be trying?! Let me know in the comments!

Lapel Coat + Vinyl Pants

Claudia Di Capua

Sweater: H&MCoat: SheInPants: H&MShoes: & Other Stories (Similar here) / Sunglasses: DiorBag: Express

The Look

A long lapel coat is a must for late fall/winter! I love them because they can be thrown over literally everything, giving your look an effortless feel. I normally like to wear mine with a chunky scarf, but decided not to this time around to give these vinyl pants the spotlight. Long coats work as a great layering option because they always complement whether you are looking to do a monochrome look or color block look. I often like to wear all grey with this coat, but throwing a bold color under there would have worked as well! This coat has a great street style fit and classic look all in one, which is why you must find one if you haven’t already! Asos and Topshop often. Have great options!

Moving on to the pants. I had been very interested in the whole vinyl craze leading up to this shoot, so I was super excited to share my experience with them in a post. To say the least, they are epic! I love the shine and focal point they create even when wearing g all neutral colors. They are super cool if you are ok with a few interested stares. One recommendation I have is to make sure that you find a pair that don’t make noise as you walk. The ones I’m wearing make a slight noise when I walk, so definitely don’t skimp out on price as you need to pay for the material quality. I know Topshop has a very popular pair, which I have linked above!

I bought these & Other Stories slip on shoes about 3 years ago and sort of put them to the side after one use. I’m so glad I didn’t get rid of them and that they are in perfect condition because I’m OBSESSED with them now! They are all leather with studding on the top, which honestly is what sold me. They take inspiration from men’s dress shoes, but the pointed toe and smoothness of the leather are what make them more feminine. I linked a few similar ones since these are course out of stock now!

As for accessories, I went with my Dior So Real sunglasses, which I’l have forever. They are like art to me (love the brow bar)! I’ve wanted an Acne scarf for a while, but I accidentally came across a similar version at Free People and it’s been a staple ever since. This scarf is so soft and amazing for the price. Now is the time to start eyeing what you are going to jump on during those Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales!
