Welcoming Spring in Tommy Jeans

Claudia Di Capua

Sweater: Tommy Jeans via UOJeans: Citizens of HumanityBoots: Public Desire (similar here) | Sunglasses: AsosBag: Express (similar here)

THE LOOK

Oversized items will always have my heart. I accidentally came across this Tommy Jeans sweater while browsing around for things I didn't need and kind of fell in love it!  I love the vintage race car vibes it gives and blue is my favorite color. It goes great withe jeans, shorts and skirts and provides a street style aesthetic due to its shape and size. I'm a sucker for extra long arms on tops and sweaters! A little trick I use to elongate and give my legs a slimming effect is to wear longer tunic style items. Longer items actually make my legs look longer and slimmer if it hits that mid thigh sweet spot.

These Citizens of Humanity jeans are some of the comfiest ones I own! I love the light material and how much movement I get in them. The tears are just enough to feel effortless without looking like they went through the shredder. I would categorize them as half boyfriend jean and half boot leg. I'm not a fan of when the boyfriend jean is too wide, so having this pair be just wide enough to meet the top of my boots was ideal!

If you read my last post you know that I turn to Asos when testing out new trends to get good prices on things I'm not sure of. I followed this same strategy when trying out skinny sunglasses. I ended up loving them! Full disclosure: They look way cooler than they function. Of course, having such a small lens makes sunglasses less effective, but they look super cool. Do it for the fashion! I paired this look with white boots to make the white in the sweater pop. Highly recommend a pair of white boots because the work for pretty much every season!

Black Puffer in Soho + How I Test Out New Styles & Trends

Claudia Di Capua

Top: Express (similar here) | Coat: Gimo's (similar here) | Jeans: Levi'sBoots: Alexander WangSunglasses: Asos (similar here) | Belt: HauteLook

THE LOOK

It’s still cold out, so I’m still breaking out jackets and coats! When it comes to puffer coats, I like to select ones that have something special or unique to them, otherwise it looks like any puffer. This slightly longer jacket has a slight sheen to the black material, which drew me in. The dramatic white collar and zipper line are what sold me! The puffer is warm on its own, but the fur collar take it to another level. This was super helpful on this particular day because I was wearing a sleeveless turtleneck underneath. I linked a similar one above because this one is a showroom pull and comes out next season.

Most of the items in this look were found in my closet, meaning I didn’t have to go out and buy new things to build this look. I love when that happens! In fact, this sleeveless turtleneck, Levi’s jeans, belt and Alexander Wang boots are a bunch of my favorite go to’s for everyday use. The look is very clean, but includes a hint of edginess with the boots and accessories.

How I Test New Trends

Colored sunglasses were something I had been wanting to try, but not something I wanted to spend a chunk of money on before I was sure I liked them. In these moments, I turn to Asos. This online store has literally everything! Asos always has the best prices on versions of trending or popular styles of any fashion item. I highly recommend turning to them if you want to try a new style, but are not sold 100% yet. I ended up liking my colored sunglasses, but if I hadn’t, I would have only lost $10 if I chose not to return them. Once you start strategizing your purchases, you end up saving money in the long run and purchasing what you love more often.

Acne Jeans + New Favorite Knit

Claudia Di Capua

Sweater: ReissJeans: Acne Studios Boots: Stuart Weitzman | Sunglasses: Ray-Ban | Beret: Urban Outfitters

The Look

It's one of the warmest days of winter today, but I'm posting this anyway! As I was putting this post together, I realized that I love and look up to many of the brands I'm wearing in this post. For example, I love Stuart Weitzman's amazing suede work, Acne Studio's commitment to street style and Reiss for their simplistic elegance. I recently became acquainted with Reiss and am so happy to have tried it out. I could honestly wear this sweater without a coat because it does it's job of keeping me warm very well! I normally wear a light long sleeve top underneath and I'm good to go. Blue is my favorite color, so finding this style of sweater, which is one of my favorites, in this icy blue color for winter was a no-brainer.

I'm in love Acne Studios. I love how their pieces have asymmetrical lines and how they have a signature streetstyle look. They do oversized so well, but I went with the skinny jeans this time around! I had been on the hunt for a pair of grey jeans for a while as my closet is oversaturated with blue and black jeans. Their jeans are fairly priced and super high quality! I expected the price to be annoyingly high, but was pleasantly surprised to see that that they were right on pace with many of my other jeans.

Next, let's talk shoes and accessories. These Stuart Weitzman boots hit it out of the park for me. I love the rich, warm tone and texture of this grey. It looks luxurious and different than the lighter and colder looking grey that most other over the knee boots have. I'm always a fan of slightly different and unique! These boots are on sale now for half the price!! Definitely check them out above. I went for my old and new favorites for accessories. The old being the Ray Bans and the new being the beret. I wasn't sure I would love the beret, so I got one for a lower price. I like to test new items out this way so that I don't spend a fortune on something I may not love in a few months. Luckily, this isn't the case for this beret as I can't seem to take it off!

P.S. Those Great Danes though!! I wish they were mine, but they're not. A friendly pedestrian let me borrow them for a picture or two :).
