The Look

It has been a minute! I've been so wrapped up in getting my travel posts up that I put a lot of the lookbook posts on the back burner this summer. While I included my looks and links to them in those travel posts, it's still nice to get back to my roots of style posts and how/why I put them together. Marijn and I tested out a new camera for these shots and couldn't be more pleased! September will be a whole new animal for us.

Now, back to the look. I've been experimenting a lot with different denim style, so these striped and structured reformation spoke to me. I love the cut and almost boxiness of them. Not to mention, they suck you is in all the right places. Seriously, you can actually feel the material tightening up around the upper thigh area and waist. I find this too be super flattering, but at ties a tad uncomfortable. Nothing I can't deal with for how great your legs look when wearing them! The vertical stripes give your legs that elongated look, especially when worn with heels!

With the jeans as the focus of the look, I went very comfortable and easy breezy for the rest of the look. A simple white t-shirt should always be on hand for moments like these. As you can, it complements the heels nicely, but this look is just as easily worn with sneakers. My sheer orange sunnies (found on Asos) and hairstyle give the entire look a very retro vibe. I love how th eorange tint of the lenses works so well with the warm tones of the Hermès scarf. Speaking of which, wrapping scarves around handbag handles has to be one of my new favorite thing to do with accessories!

Babes Against Bullsh*t Jacket + Wrap Skirt

The Look

It’s the start of a new week, so I thought a slightly motivational post would be fitting. With all of the recent women’s initiatives that have taken the world, but especially the U.S. by storm, it only seemed appropriate to show my support using my mode of creativity —clothing. I wanted this ‘Babes Against Bullshit’ Understated Leather denim jacket last summer, but it wasn’t until a few months ago that I found it on sale! I was so happy to have snagged it. QUICK TIP: if you love something, but aren’t ready to pay the price, remove it from your cart and add it to your (what is this called). This has worked well for me on sites like Revolve because this section lives right below your cart, so you can always see when they have adjusted an item to a lower price!

I’m obsessed with cool patchwork and love how the ‘Babes Against Bullshit’ has a slightly western feel to it. The light wash and cropped, raw edge denim makes this jacket a perfect piece for summer! I linked this jacket along with another similar version above!

This asymmetric wrap skirt has been so useful in the almost two years that I’ve had it. It transitions so well from day to night and has a super cool balanced, but off-balanced look. The check print is super on trend and the belt adds some visual depth and interest. For a warm spring day, a simple t-shirt is all you need. It’s fits so comfortably underneath a denim jacket!

I paired this look with my white stiletto Public Desire boots (which are weirdly hard to come by in this style anymore), rounding off the subtle space cowgirl look I had going. While I could have gone with jeans, it was too perfect of an opportunity to wear this skirt. Always test out all of your theories! I’ll save the denim on denim for another day!

The Look

I've been sitting on this look for a while, just waiting for the perfect temperature to wear it. The chills snuck up on me, but my motto is as long as you are covered up on top, your legs can handle a little breeze! This mainly Madewell Look is the perfect way to keep comfy and casual in mind when getting ready for something a bit dressier. I love the wrap skirt because this cut does wonders for different body shapes. It helps accentuate all of the right areas while looking modern and put together thanks to the asymmetrical hem lines. Blue is my favorite color, so the stripes are right up my ally. The sweater is the perfect sweater for the beginning of fall! the holes allow it to be just breezy enough that you are not overheating if you decide to layer it with a light jacket or put a tank top underneath. It's the perfect season transitioner. I love my gray and silver details, so I went for some simple jewelry and a favorite pair of lace up heels.

Other Ways To Style

I will be posting an additional way to style this sweater that is more casual/for everyday in the near future. Stay tuned!
