Palazzo Pants + Stripes

Never enough stripes for day 5 of NYFW

The Look

If you want to step out of your comfort one, put on a pair of palazzo pants. The bold print and sheer length of these bottoms are definitely attention grabbers! Although it was something different for me, the shows that I was going to on this day seemed to warrant somewhat "out there" looks. Both Hakan Akkaya and Lan Yu were a little out there as far as design, but I seemed to be right on the mark with the stripes as you'll see in the show photos below!

Whether you get a pair of striped, bright, printed, neutral, or any other type of style, you need a pair of palazzo pants. Depending on what kind of shoes you want to wear with them, you can alter the length. Mine were definitely on the longer side an needed heels, but a pair of sneakers would look pretty cool as well. Bringing this style into your everyday look is simple! Select a neutral color or classic pinstripe version to amp up your fall wardrobe. I love the ones that they have on missguided.com! This style is super slimming and elongating. Try them out!

I bought this top from Topshop on a whim thinking I would get some use out of it. It's a t-shirt, right?! Well, this top has been my go-to since buying it! I love the pop of red and blue against the white and black pants. The "Amour" text gives it that vintage vibe, which works so well with the Gucci belt. The top is soft and will get much more layering use this season!

I felt like my waist was getting a little lost since the pants weren't super tight up top. I fixed this by adding the belt and cinching it in. This immediately gave the look more shape and added that luxe detail. Overall, this look was easy and breezy, which is a rarity when putting together NYFW looks!

The Show

Hakan Akkaya

This show was full of interesting shapes, lines materials and structures. I loved how this felt more like art than clothing. Parts were very industrial while others were very flowy and had movement.

I was very excited to see that I was on point with the stripes! I felt like I was wearing a piece off of the runway. A large amount of the pieces, specifically the menswear was made of a black and white striped material.

Everything about this show felt so calculated in a good way, if that makes sense. Everything from the models to the music beat meshed so perfectly. I loved how they combined both women's and menswear into one show. It added variation and kept things interesting.

All I can do now is praise from afar and hope that the designer shows again next season!

Pinstripe Duster Coat

Elongating stripes and distressed denim for Day 4 od NYFW

The Look

At this point, I'm pretty positive that stripes of all sorts are going to be my thing this fall/winter season. It's my easy way of adding "prints." Stripes are such an easy way to stay in your color palette while adding some visual interest. Not to mention, stripes that run vertically usually have a slimming and elongating effect, so you know I'm already down! Blue is my favorite color, so why not let it take over my entire look? I threw in a go-to pair of distressed jeans and velvet boots. Get full details on where to find each of these items and more on the Lan Yu show below!

Duster Coat: AritziaJeans: RevolveBoots: Steve MaddenSunglasses: Ray Ban

If you've been keeping up with all of my NYFW blog posts, you'd know that there has been at least one piece from Aritzia in each look. This was completely not planned, but there stuff is just that good and wearable, like this pinstripe duster for instance! I wore it all tied up in the front, but it looks amazing as an open coat with a top underneath as well! If you are looking for height and elongation, duster coats and a pair of heeled boots are your answer this fall! Definitely give Aritzia a try if you haven't! I promise you won't regret it other than the fact that you'll be newly addicted to a new store. While we are on the topic of awesome brands, let's throw Revolve in the

mix. I know most of you have probably shopped with them at one point or another, but if you haven't experienced the denim they sell, please get on that! Their denim is super high quality and they carry awesome brands.

One of my favorites is Lovers & Friends when I'm looking for good jeans. They have a perfect thickness to them so I don't feel like they are going to stretch out or become unflattering over time. These particular ones in the photos sit at the perfect spot on my hips and the busted knees give them that edgy yet relaxed look.

I'm obsessed with velvet and have been ever since they came bak on the scene last fall! I turned to Steve Madden to give my new found trend crush a try without breaking the bank and they just confirmed my love for velvet. They fit like sock boots, which made them fit perfectly under the ankle of my jeans.

The Show

This show was full of airy and whimsical pieces that moved effortlessly with the models as the walked the runway!

I loved the shimmery materials and asymmetrical hem lines. there were a few colors in there that reallystood out to me. I loved the blue, almost turquoise velvet jumpsuit and green two piece set (both shown in the photos. Pieces like the shimmery silver asymmetrical dress and ballgown were mesmerizing!

Luxe Silks + Stripes

Breaking out the bold colors dewy silks for NYFW Day 3

The Look

I’m trying something new…color! You may have noticed with the olive colors from my last NYFW post, but I decided to go even bolder for my second look. Behold, Dolce Vita Saffron Yellow Silk heels. I was skeptical at first, but when I got them in the mail, I was so happy I took the color risk! The golden undertones and sheen of the silk add so much vibrancy to the look. They are only complementing the blue and white colors I already wear. Notice the detail in the fringes and how the block of the heel get s wider towards the floor. I seriously have a crush on my own shoes.

Top: RevolvePants: AritziaHeels: Dolce VitaSunglasses: Ray Ban

I love a classic silhouette, but there’s no shame in revamping the classics. Take this button down for instance: business in the front, party in the back! In the front it’s your standard button down and great as is. But the back is where this blouse comes alive. The raised hanging ruffle panel gives this top amazing movement and is interesting to look at. I wanted to do something a little different for NYFW! It ties underneath so it’s not falling all over the place. Like I mentioned in my NYFW trend predictions, stripes were everywhere…including on my top! Stripes made a statement in a huge way this season, so I was happy to include them in my looks. Similar to my heels, this L’Academie blouse had a silky sheen giving it that luxurious look.

IMG_6105.JPG

You may recognize these pants. That’s because I wore the same ones in olive green in my last post! Aritzia has been on the money with minimal, tailored pieces. I’m obsessed with that entire company, especially their latest collection. You’ll definitely be seeing more looks featuring their products! I honestly would have gotten these trousers in more colors if they weren’t semi-expensive. Coming in at $145, they are a little on the high side for everyday pants, but definitely worth it. You get so much use out of pants like these!

I accidentally posted one of my day 3 shows in my day 2 post, so you can view that right here. I’d like to take this opportunity to ask what type of content you’d like to see more of! While I love sharing looks and details about events like NYFW, it’s always helpful to know what you as viewers find most interesting to read about. I’d love to incorporate some of your ideas and interests into my coverage. Let me know your thoughts in the comments or send me a message on Instagram (@claudiadicapua).

Here’s an update on what’s coming next: more video! I did a combination video of all of my NYFW looks so you can see them moving and get a look into what fashion shows look like. That will be up soon both on the blog and on my YouTube channel (You can check it out here)!

Victorian Top + NYFW

Experimenting with new trends and styles as I work my way through NYFW SS18

The Look

New season new look! I never thought I'd see myself wearing anything close to green, but this olive green is doing the trick for me this fall. I've been selling my soul to Aritzia (where I got this entire look) in the last few weeks as I was putting together my looks for NYFW. They have some awesome pieces that will truly complete your closet goals!

Aside from trying out a new color, I also switched it up by actually wearing a print as well as sporting the victorian style ruffles and high neck. I love the frill details at the shoulders and how the blouse is just shear enough. It is a super feminine style that contrasts my usual modern and linear looks.

Top: AritziaPants: AritziaShoes: Zara

Let's move down to the pants. I love this style so much that I went back and bought the same pair in white and almost got them in an oxblood red. They are the business casual staple you NEED! Plus, Aritzia has them in basically every color, so I recommend stopping in store to see them all. They are extremely comfortable and make the look put together. I can't wait to create a street style look featuring these!

The Shows

While both shows were very different, each of their purposes were clear. Sechs Element seemed to pull inspiration from the elements (fire, water, air, earth). The show was broken up into sections for each of the elements, which I thought was very cool and made it clear what the set of loks were supposed to be reflecting.

Katie Gallagher's presentation matched the fluidity of rain. The lighting was serene and erie, similar to the looks. I loves the shear pieces like the long, beaded dresses in the front. Definitely something I would wear! I loved how both shows drew inspiration from natural occurrances.
